Dual Language Immersion Parent meeting

We will be hosting a parent meeting for all parents of students enrolled for the 2013/14 Dual Language Immersion program on May 16, from 6:30-7:30.  The purpose of the meeting is to answer any questions you may have, as well as meeting the teachers.  This meeting is for parents only, please let your students know they will be able to meet the teachers at Back to School Night in the fall.

If we have students there then our Spanish teacher will only be able to speak Spanish which will make communicating with parents a little bit difficult.  We want to be sure to answer your questions so please use this LINK to submit questions for the meeting.

Hiring Survey

We want to hear from you!  As we move into hiring teachers for next year please let us know what is important to you when selecting a new teacher.   We have a gift card to The Blue Bird for two lucky people that fill this out.  Click HERE for the survey.

Dual Language Immersion

Picture

Bridger will begin with a Spanish Immersion program for 1st graders during the 2013 school year.  Participation in this program is completely voluntary.

A Spanish Dual Immersion program is designed so that students completing the program will leave elementary school fluent and literate in Spanish.  Students are not taught the language explicitly, but are taught the language through the content.  Half of the day will be taught in English, and the other half of the day will be taught in Spanish.  This program has been used throughout the state of Utah, and there are currently 70 elementary schools participating.

If you have any questions about this program please come in and visit with the principal, Mr. Grunig.  We hope that many of our families will take this opportunity for their children to become fluent in Spanish!
